Adem Hodzic first came to Bell Plumbing & Gas while getting his hands dirty developing his plumbing skills while undertaking his Certificate II Pre-Apprenticeship in Plumbing at Rockingham TAFE.
 
During this time, Adem spent many work placement hours with us, very quickly proving himself to be a highly motivated, proactive and fast learner. Adem has since completed Year 12 and his pre-apprenticeship qualification, so when the time came to choosing the right apprentice it really was a no brainer.
Bell Plumbing & Gas are absolutely thrilled to announce that Adem is now an official member of the Bell Plumbing and Gas team employed fulltime as our very first apprentice plumber.
 
Adem had always wanted to work in a trade and is very grateful for the opportunity to begin his career in the plumbing industry. An avid sports fan, when he is not digging trenches, servicing tapware and sorting out the van, Adem loves watching the English Premier League, Champions League and Rugby League. Want to know a fun fact about Adem? His family originates from Bosnia.
 
Please, if you see Adem out about on the job, join us in congratulating him on commencing the first year of his apprenticeship. We wish Adem the best of luck for the beginning of a long and successful career in plumbing.

Toilets save lives, because human waste spreads killer diseases. World Toilet Day is about inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.

Want to know the facts?
The impact of exposure to human faeces on this scale has a devastating impact upon public health, living and working conditions, nutrition, education and economic productivity across the world.

​The global sanitation crisis is reflected in the following facts, according to reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF):
  • Around 60% of the global population – 4.5 billion people – either have no toilet at home or one that doesn't safely manage excreta.
  • 892 million people worldwide still practise open defecation – this means human faeces, on a massive scale, is not being captured or treated.
  • 1.8 billion people use an unimproved source of drinking water with no protection against contamination from faeces.
  • One fifth of schools worldwide do not provide any toilet facilities - a particular problem for girls during menstruation.
  • 900 million schoolchildren across the world have no handwashing facilities – a critical barrier in the spread of deadly diseases.
  • Globally, 80% of the wastewater generated by society flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or reused.

​National Water Week aims to inspire individuals, communities and organisations to work together to build awareness around the value of water. Access to clean water is hugely important to every aspect of our lives, and we must do our best to protect our water environments and resources, and use water wisely.

This year's theme is 'It's time to change the world'. The theme was adapted from the World's Largest Lesson on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Goal #6 challenges us to work towards a world where everyone will have access to safe and clean water. National Water Week provides an opportunity to remind ourselves and teach others that access to clean water is hugely important to every aspect of our lives, and we must do our utmost to protect our water environments, use water wisely, and respect its importance.
As waterwise plumbers, Bell Plumbing & Gas are committed to sustainable plumbing practices and will continue to advocate for water conservation. We embrace our responsibility as members of the plumbing industry to use our knowledge, skills and training to help our environment flourish.

So how often should l replace my flexi hose?

Generally, you should replace your flexible hoses every five years. However, it's a good idea to check them regularly. 

What are the warning signs my flexi may burst?​
 
Warning Signs

  • corrosion or rust spots on the braided section of pipe.
  • bulging areas on the pipe (it will look like a little black balloon).
  • Fraying and kinking of the pipe are also signs of damage.​
What do I do next?
